| Welcome to K & L Ranch Our objective is to produce the finest miniature horses, foals, show breeding & bloodlines possible. AMHR/AMHA Registered. My husband and I moved to Paulden, AZ from Los Angeles some years ago to get away from the city and enjoy the “rural life”. Paulden is a small friendly community about 28 miles north of Prescott. We bought our house and 5 acre ranch from the Amen family - this home was truly an answer to our prayers. The Amens also had two Peruvian Pasos for sale. Both Klaus and I were (and still are) novice riders and these horses are perfect for us. So now my story begins. Our neighborhood has many horse lovers and old car buffs. It really is a great mix. My closest neighbors, the LaBelle’s, were breeders of Arabian horses, and then they fell in love with the miniatures. I still claim that our beginnings were “entirely their fault” (you can meet them on their web site at www.summertrailminis.com). At first it started with a couple of rescued minis. Guess what, the mare was pregnant! No one knew until shortly before she foaled. Our first baby, WE WERE HOOKED!! Again, because of Vicki and Mike LaBelle, the next minis we bought were trained for cart. This is how it started, more horses… and so on and so forth. We now have become miniature horse breeders. Most of our horses are AMHA and/or AMHR registered. We have selected mares of good pedigree, personality, form and balance for the best of foundations. We believe that the “moms” pass along as much or more of the positive qualities as does the stallions. We have bred our mares to stallions that have good personalities and pedigrees from proven bloodlines. Examples are Lucky Four, Flying W, Brewers Orion, Fishers and Bond, just to name a few. Our goal is to produce fine quality miniature horses. Around here all colors are welcomed. We have palominos, pintos, roans and solids. All are of sound body and mind. We were blessed with 3 more healthy and beautiful babies in 2008. Two fillies - Rose & Charity and one colt - Justice. We are also continuing here as we began. We have rescued several more miniature horses. They are not registered, but they are well put together and have good personalities, and will make great companions or just pets.
